Successful Third Meeting

Aloha, we just concluded the third meeting and I was gratified by the enthusiasm shown by all attendees. We had great fun with Mark's introduction of "In the Jailhouse Now" and "Honolulu Baby." I want to thank Mike for hosting.

Jennifer has been working hard on our new website. Check it out at www.valleyukes.blogspot.com. Please feel free to make any suggestions. Frankly I think Jennifer is doing a hell of a job. We discussed a number of issues regarding the club. We are going to increase our efforts to find a permanent location. If you have suggestions please feel free to voice them.

Jim DeVille has offered to bring his "Ukulele by Ear" workshop to us and I will be working on a date sometime after the first of the year. Jennifer has attended his workshop and found it worthwhile.

I spoke with Andy Andrews, the founder of the Santa Cruz Uke Club who now lives in Hilo. I will be seeing him next week. He had some great insights into uke clubs and I think some of his suggestions should be heeded. A discussion was had regarding dues and I think it is the consensus that dues should be voluntary at least at this time. We have also officially named the club Ukulele San Joaquin so that it reflects the regional origins of our club members. There are still many aspects to be explored, but I think we have a good start.

The next meeting on October 9th will be held at Susana's home. Hope you all can make it. Rob
